TITLE:  Cancer

Scripture: Revelation 2: 18-29

I.    THE X-RAY OF THE CHURCH         

The description of Jesus:

1.      He first changes (His name).  The term He uses emphasizes His (deity).  The change is significant because He is not wanting to be seen here as the sympathetic (High Priest) but the divine (Judge).

2.      He has eyes like a (flame of fire).

3.      Eyes like flames of fire and feet like (burnished bronze).

Why such a shock to read this description, especially when He commends them:

1)      They were (showing love).

2)      They were commended for their (faith).

3)      They were commended for their (service) and (perseverance).

 

II.   THE TREATMENT FOR THE CHURCH              

What is the cancer ripping at the heart of the church of Thyatira?  {v.20]  There is an attitude of (tolerance) which has been allowed to spread like a malignant cancer.

For those who repent He offers something much more pleasant:

1.      He says (no more burdens).

2.      He promises a (right future).
