Scripture:  Rev. 1: 1-8

A quote from last week: “Revelation is a famous book in which St. John the Divine concealed all that he knew. The revealing is done by commentators, who know nothing.”

I.    HE WANTS US TO HEAR THE PROPHECY                                                    

God (has been) and (is now) and (will be) at work in our world as He prepares us for a new world.

The word revelation is the Greek word apokalypsis which means “to unveil or uncover something previously hidden.”

“Don’t try to interpret John’s vision unless John himself tells us what he means.”  Nash

II.   HE WANTS US TO HEAR THE PROMISE                                   

Take note of how John describes Jesus in verses 4-5

1. 1. 1. 1. Jesus is the (faithful witness)
         2. Jesus is the (firstborn of the dead).
         3. Jesus is the (ruler of the kings of the earth).
