TITLE: Go Back to Go Forward
Scripture: Joshua 4:5-7
I. THE BATTLEGROUND
Much of the battle of mental health (begins in the mind).
Eph. 6:12 says, “Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but…”
(Remembering) what God has done for us is a massive weapon for (defeating) anxiety and depression.
II. THE BATTLE STRATEGY
Getting the entire nation through the Jordan River was an impossible task (unless God intervened)!
What kind of memorial do we want?
1. Remember what God has (brought you through).
2. Remember what God has (promised you).
· Stating (God’s faithfulness) is one thing: (believing) it when the tough times come is another.
3. Remember God (is going with you).

TITLE: Three Essentials You MUST Believe!
Scripture: Psalm 13:1-2, 5-6
I. YOU ARE NOT CRAZY
“We are a bunch of imperfect people pursuing a perfect God.”
Stop seeing yourself as a (freak) an (outcast) or a (misfit) and take a second to see yourself as a child of God. You are a child of God, just like the rest of us. You are slightly broken, just like the rest of us. Attacking Anxiety – Shawn Johnson -p.26
II. YOU ARE NOT ALONE
Truth from Psalm 13: The discrepancy was between (feelings) and (belief), between what he (felt) and what he knew to be (true). This chapter shows just one of the reasons why relying or trusting in our feelings is so (dangerous).
III. THIS WILL END
3 sayings worth remembering:
-
-
-
-
-
- The greater the test, the greater the testimony.
- With God, nothing is impossible
- God is not going to just you or your loved one though this season: He’s building a testimony that can change the world around you for the rest of your life.

I. WHAT GOD WANTS FOR YOU
Separate handout of “What God Wants for You.” (Attacking Anxiety- Johnson-Pp.14-15)
Gal. 5:1- “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to
the yoke of slavery.”
II. WHAT GOD PROMISES YOU
Mark 4:35-41:
1) Notice what Jesus didn’t do.
2) Notice what Jesus did do!
Even though we are not given a blissful existence and have no trouble, Jesus has promised (His
peace). See John 14:27
A few thoughts to chew on:
1. God is working in the circumstances of our lives. Mk. 4:35-37
2. We panic when we lose faith in the One we should trust. 4:38
3. Jesus has authority over nature and all our lives because He is God. 4:39
4. The identity of Jesus is an issue we all must settle. 4:41

Therefore, the greatest service that can ever be rendered to anyone is to explain to them the meaning of Scripture. –John MacArthur
- Suddenly, Jesus is recognized when he breaks bread with them at dinner. The two companions turn to each other: “Our hearts were (burning) within us as he talked and opened the (Scriptures) to us!”
